1. Vela plaža
Our main, almost 2km long beach, Vela plaža deserves first place on this list. Vela plaža is a pebble beach with a sandy seabed, perfect for families with children but also all of those who love don’t want to worry about stepping on a sea urchin. The beach is surrounded by all needed amenities like shops, restaurants, cafes, fast foods, ice cream shops, hotels… Another version of the name Vela plaža is Baška beach or in direct translation The grand beach or The big beach.

2. Vrženica
Vrženica beach is a wonderful secluded beach reachable by foot or by boat. Keep in mind that this is a 3km walk from Baška so if you will be walking in high heat, remember to bring water and appropriate shoes! The best option is hopping on a taxi boat and getting there in a few minutes.
3. Mali raj
A bit smaller beach, near Vrženica, is Mali raj. The name of this secluded beach, in translation, means little paradise and it truly is one. This is a pebble beach with a pebble seabed. Keep in mind that these beaches often don’t offer any shadow so make sure to bring a sun umbrella. Some of them have pine trees which will give you some space to hide from the sun but those spots are often the first to get occupied.

4. Vela Luka
Vela Luka beach is another stunning beach near Baška, reachable by boat or by foot. This beach is pretty far away from Baška if you are planning to go by foot and the path is on the more demanding side. The best way to reach it in the heat of summer is definitely by taxi boat which will take about 15min. If you are an active person and are used to hiking, make sure to start your hike early in the morning, bring lots of water and appropriate shoes! This is especially important in the summer months when the temperatures get high. The Vela Luka beach offers a restaurant that is great for a longer visit. The beach offers sunbeds and sun umbrellas so you don't have to bring your own!
5. Mala Luka
Another secluded beach and the furthest one from Baška is Mala Luka. Mala luka bay is situated just a 10m walk away from Vela luka. When visiting by boat the ride will be much longer since Mala Luka is on the other side of the peninsula. As well as Vela Luka, Mala Luka also offers a restaurant, although a bit smaller. This is a great place to visit if you will be renting a boat and having the commodity to come and go as you wish. In the surroundings of Vela and Mala Luka, you can find old ruins that used to form Fort Corinthia. They are the largest ancient ruins on the northern Adriatic islands, which lie along 2.5 km of coastline and cover an area of about 6,000 ha. The lower town along the Mala Luka bay was a port settlement with 3 churches. The upper acropolis at the top of the Sokol peninsula was a military and administrative center. The oldest ruins are from the 7th century BC and were the early naval arsenal of the Liburnian Navy. The youngest part is the monastery of St. Nicholas from the 16th century. Unfortunately, this whole archeological complex is still poorly explored.

6. Island Prvić
Island Prvić is the biggest uninhabited island in Croatia situated just in front of Baška bay. Most of the island is unreachable due to high cliffs, but the western side has a much milder decline and some beautiful beaches. These beaches can only be reached by boat and do not offer any amenities. Since no people are living on the island, its only inhabitants are bees, birds, and sheep. So if you find yourself relaxing and getting a tan, don’t be surprised if you get an unexpected visitor! The seabed around Island Prvić is rocky and the sea is crystal clear, perfect for snorkeling. Make sure to bring enough water since there are no shops or restaurants but also no shadows since the island is made of pure rocks.
7. Hidden beaches
Besides these larger beaches, the surroundings of Baška offer a great number of smaller hidden beaches. These small gems are always the first ones to get occupied since many of them don’t fit many people and are pretty private. The best way to secure a spot is to rent a boat and start exploring early in the morning. These stunning beaches and the clear sea are the recipe for pure relaxation. Grab a book, a sun umbrella, some fruit, and a good SPF and enjoy the sounds of nature.
All of these places are true paradise. The sound of the sea, the smell of nature, and the sun on your skin will make you want to stay and never leave. The best part is that you get to explore every hidden cove Baška bay has to offer and get to find your perfect spot under the sun!
